Here's something to read

Did you know that every single time I type something on the computer, it has to be in Times New Roman, 12 point font?  That actually has nothing to do with anything.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!

I’m back in Naperthrill to finish out my junior year.  Here’s a song I currently have on repeat:

This mah jam.

Unless you live under a rock, you are probably uncomfortably aware of the snow-pocalypse that hit Chicago land and northwest Indiana today (and tomorrow… THE WORLD).  We are all going to die very soon due to the extreme cold.  Yes, a predicted temp of -11°F on Monday, a balmy 1°F on Tuesday, and a pleasant 19°F on Wednesday.  I have high hopes for survival, but if I don’t, at least my brief 20.9 years were filled with adventure, particularly in the past four months.
Random dude snowmobiling through our neighborhood this morning.
I tried to write a New Year’s post the other day, but I simply couldn't produce anything worth reading.  Honestly, I haven’t made any New Year’s resolutions.  Sure, I have some personal goals that I am going to try harder to accomplish this year, but I can’t think of anything beyond that which I need to name “resolution”.  It all seems very cliché.  Would I like to lose weight and work out more?  Of course.  Would I like to do even better in my studies?  Of course.  Would I like to save more money this year?  Of course.  However, I need to prioritize on a daily basis.  Call me crazy, but I like to think in terms of the day’s resolutions and not the year’s resolutions.  Although I will say that I am quite fond of the idea of a completely “new” year, in every sense of the word.   Think about it.  New… unfamiliar, fresh, original, inexperienced, untrodden, changed for the better, unknown, different, revived (I love me some thesaurus.com).

I've been in a bit of a weird mood since Christmas.  I have a strong desire for independence, yet I’m hesitant to leave my family.  It’s pretty disorienting, moving from one place to another so quickly.  Living at home is sweet, with the free food and all, but I am so ready to hit the ground running this term.  I know, I say that every term, but this time I am genuinely going to kick butt… academically, anyway.

On a more serious note, as I look ahead to 2014, I am legitimately freaking out about literally everything: my future career, money, living arrangements, relationships, and classes.  I need to remind myself that any part of my life that I try to control is a part of my life that I am refusing to give up to God

I miss Canterbury so much!  This term is going to be SO DIFFERENT than last term.  Nevertheless, I am excited to start classes again.  Cheers to a new year and a new term!

I really miss seeing the cathedral every day!

Here's West Gate on a (rare) sunny day :)
